Professor Margaret Kobia

Cabinet Secretary, Public Service and Gender. Trustee

Professor Margaret Kobia is currently the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Public Service and Gender. She’s a Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship and holds a Ph.D in Human Resources Education of the University of Illinois.

She served as the first woman Chairperson at Public Service Commission from 2013 to 2017. In 2010, Prof. Kobia was a winner of the Commonwealth Gordon Draper Award 2010. In recognition of her exemplary role in public service, she received the Highest Head of State Commendation (MGH) in 2016.

At the international level, she is a member of the UN Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA), was Co-chair Effective Institutions Platform, and was Vice President of the Commonwealth Association of Public Administration Management (CAPAM) 2010-2017.
